No, We Are Not Running Political Ads

I got an email today through the Krav Maga Kentucky contact form that made me stop and blink.
Here’s what was submitted. Name changed and contact information removed.
Contact Name: John Doe
My Question: “I've been a republican entire life but your latest smear ad is embarrassing. I'm not stupid. Thomas Massie saw the full unredacted Epstein file. Why don't you list that as the reason King Trump doesn't want him reelected. Supporting pedophiles is just unforgivable.” Age: 48
Someone thought we were running political smear ads.
We are not.
Krav Maga Kentucky is a self-defense training facility in Lexington. We teach adults how to build confidence, awareness, and real skills. That’s it.
No campaigns.
No candidates.
No political agenda.
So how does something like this happen?
“Krav Maga Kentucky” contains the words “Krav Maga.” When people are already scanning fast and emotionally charged, their brains sometimes auto-complete that into “MAGA.” Add in the fact that ad platforms occasionally mislabel sponsorships, or someone runs a political ad with sloppy naming, and you get confusion like this.
It takes one assumption and a few seconds of outrage.
If you ever see something political and our name appears attached to it, assume one of two things.
Either you are looking at the wrong business, a platform mislabeled something, or someone is incorrectly using our name.
If that ever happens, send me a screenshot. I will look into it immediately and shut it down if anything is being misattributed to us.
Now here’s the bigger point.
This is exactly why I tell students not to live off headlines and emotion.
People see a few words.
They fill in the blanks.
They react before they verify.
That is not strength. That is impulse.
In self-defense, impulse gets you hurt.
In life, impulse makes you look foolish.
Train your body.
Train your mind.
Verify before you react.
